A. Introduction

Hi everyone, I’m Hong Anh Do.

I currently work as a Project Manager at a product company. I’ve always enjoyed observing people, being curious about the problems they face, and asking myself: “Is there a better way to solve this problem?”

Perhaps that’s why I became interested in the fascinating intersection of Human and Technology: User Experience (UX).

My journey into UX Foundation also began with curiosity. I wanted to understand people more deeply and apply what I had learned, along with my professional experience, to answer one question: “How can technology make people’s lives better?”

About the project.

This was my UX Foundation graduation project.

Initially, I could have worked with the rest of the class on our shared graduation topic: improving LinkedIn features. Instead, I decided to take a slightly more challenging route: complete the entire project independently, from beginning to end.

The reason was simple. I wanted to use what I had learned to solve a real problem — one that people around me were experiencing.

The inspiration came from conversations with friends who shared their dating experiences. I kept wondering: “How can such attractive women and handsome men still be single for so long?”

Why?

Whyyyyy?

And so, I started looking for answers.

That’s how this project began.

My Role: The entire team. Yes, just me. → I handled the entire process, from UX Research (market and user research) and Product Management (problem definition and direction-setting) to delivering high-level design artifacts.

How to explore this project: You can explore the project in two formats:

B. Project

This case study follows the Double Diamond framework. I chose this model because of its divergent and convergent thinking approach: first broadening the exploration to understand the problem, then narrowing the focus to identify the core issues. This helped me examine the problem from different perspectives, reduce bias, and define the right problem to solve without being too broad or too narrow.

However, due to time and resource constraints, I could not complete all four stages of the Double Diamond. The case study ends at the Develop stage, focusing on proposing solutions without proceeding to testing and iteration based on user feedback.

Stage 1: Discovery

As they seek to expand their social circles, more single people are turning to intermediaries - from social events and social media to dating apps. But this raises an important question: Do these ways of forming relationships actually meet users’ needs and expectations?
